I gave my hats, ride, and crashes to the church I used to go to. I gave them a Saturn Pro kit too. Here are the cymbals I gave away:

    20" Sabian Pro Medium Ride
    18" Sabian AA El Sabor
    17" Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash
    14" Paragon Hats

In the "exchange" I got a Sabian AA 17" Medium-Thin Crash and a Paiste 505 Heavy Ride. So I went cymbal shopping today and bought these Sabians:

    20 " HHX Evolution Ride ($300!)
    18" SR2 Thin Crash ($100)
14" SR2 Hats (heavy bottom, medium top, $160)

So add the AA 17" Medium-Thin Crash to those, and that is my new setup. Peace and goodwill.

I play a lot of church gigs too.

I got sick of using the church's crappy sounding Meinl "dark" cymbals and now bring my own Aegean "Hush" cymbals and they work much better. They are like the Sabian FRX series but have more of the muting of the high frequencies.

I would think dark cymbals would not go well with low toned/heavy music.

At church Sunday, the SR2 18" Thin crash did not blend real well with the AA 17" Medium-Thin crash. But I bought the following used cymbals Sunday afternoon (all in good shape).

    Sabian
    20" AAX Dry Ride (crashable)
18" Xs20 Medium-Thin Crash (sounds like an AA, really)
    16" AA Medium-Thin Crash
16" AA Thin Crash (20th Anniversary model)

    Paiste
    13" Alpha Medium Hats

    Setup One
20 HHX Evolution Ride (or the AAX Dry Ride)
    18" Xs20 Medium-Thin Crash
    17" AA Medium-Thin Crash
    16" AA Medium-Thin Crash
    14" SR2 Hats

    Setup Two
Paiste 20" 505 Heavy Ride (or the AAX Dry Ride)
    Sabian SR2 18" Thin Crash
    Sabian AA 16" Thin Crash
    Paiste 13" Alpha Medium Hats

Now I have all bases covered. Peace and goodwill.

Sabian 20" HH Manhattan Ride 18" AA El Sabor crash, 17" HHXtreme crash, 16" HH Thin crash, 14" HH Dark hats
These are the cymbals that l have played for over 20 years now. I have owned many cymbals over the years, but these are the ones that l will never willingly part with. I love the 18" El Sabor, and l use it as a crash ride. It has a killer bell, crashes nice, and has a good combination of ping and wash. These cymbals blend well with my Dubbs as they are a little more warm and mellow.

Sabian 20" AA El Sabor ride, 16" AAX Studio crash, 16" AA Med Thin crash, 14" AA El Sabor hats.
These are my LOUD cymbals and they will be a great compliment to my new (used) Pearl kit.

I remember you from another forum years ago. You were my El Sabor Bro.

How could you let it go?
