    Default Redline Eliminator conversion

    Hey guys,

I wanted to convert my Redline Eliminators twinpedal to direct drive.
Some years ago I owned a Demon Drive en loved that direct feeling, but made the dumb decision to sell it for a Redline Eliminator.
Don't get me wrong, the Redline's are awesome to, but I just missed my Demon Drive..
I wasn't high on budget, so I purchased the Direct Link assembly (drl-300tsa).

I removed the original cams and installed the link it on the pedals, but, instead of the lighter direct drive feel, it felt a lot heavier.
The closer the beater went to the head, the more effort it took to actually get it to the head. As if the springtension was extremely tight.
Before installing the direct link, I cleaned and oiled all the bearings, so they were as smooth as they could be.
Nevertheless, it felt NOT as I remembered from the Demon Drive.
Yes, this is not the Demon Drive, but I did not change any other settings.
Big dissapointment, so I installed the original cams again and the lighter feel was there.

Do you guys have any tips or tricks on this topic?
(I am already saving for a Demon Drive...;-))

Try shifting the pedalboard to the closer setting so the travel of the beater to the head is less.

    Otherwise check this out: https://www.acd-unlimited.at/english...tore/upgrades/

Check out the ‘Beater Shift’. Might help in reducing the moment causing the heavier feel by moving the beater closer to the head.
Also, he used to have a Pearl direct drive conversion kit — which I don’t see listed on his website anymore. I remember watching a demo of it on YouTube some while ago. Contact him to see if he still makes those. It might just be what you’re looking for.

    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes going forward.

Had a little conversation by Email with Dennis from ACD.
His thoughts were: "The main problem why it feels weirder and not like the demon drives is the leverage between the top and bottom connection of the direct drive link. On demon drives, the footboard sits way further back which creates a completely different leverage."

Makes a lot of sense ofcource.

He mentioned that his (modified) Direct Link conversions will come in stock again.
So I will sell the Pearl Direct links and pre-order the ACD conversion :-)
