Default Shell size suggestions on my kit?

    Hello everyone,

This is my masterworks kit. Each drum is my baby and I've decided its time to birth another one to the family. I'm ready to add a 2nd floor tom to it but am not sure which size (diam and depth) would compliment my kit best. This should be my last addition to this kit.

    Current dimensions as follows:
    10x8 rt
    12x9 rt
    14x14 ft
    24x18 bd

That's exactly what I've been leaning on. Thank you all. You've made this decision much easier for me.

Another vote for 16 x 16 floor tom.

I would go first and foremost for a 16" ft.
Afterwards I would probably go for another 24" kick and then an 18" ft.

    I also agree on a 16x16.

If you would already have a 16 and be at 10/12/16, then I’d say an 18x16.

Thanks man. The finish has definitely grown on me. These all have 45 degree bearing edges on them. With the new 16" tom, I'm going to order it with the fully rounded edges to reduce some of the sustain you get with larger floor toms.

I would go 16x14 to keep that reso head a bit higher off the ground and let the drum's sound wave fully develop before it hits the floor. Then if you ever did an 18" floor tom it could be 18x14 and could double as a bop bass drum.

Edit: You must be really tall. 24" bass drum with a 9" deep rack tom sitting 3 inches above the bass drum. I have my 9" rack toms sitting 1/2" above a 22" bass drum and I feel like I am siting too high. I'm 5"-11" on a good day.

Since since your 14" floor tom is "square" I would would also cast a vote for a "square" 16" for consistency's sake. Also for consistency's sake I suggest not going for rounded bearing edges. Why add a drum to your set up that is inconsistent with the rest of your kit? It certainly won't be a selling point if you ever decide to let go of them. You can always have round bearing edges done if you hate the 45 degree angles. My guess is you would be fine with 45's and won't regret not having rounded bearing edges.
    Gorgeous kit!
