Default What's your favourite room to record in?

So, the other day I recorded a few drum loops in a big, lively untreated room (see one such groove below)!

It made me think about my favourite studios to have recorded / worked in, and how I miss 'em. In particular, Abbey Road... The vibe and the people who work there, both engineers and management staff, are gems.

With that in mind, I'd say Studio 2 in Abbey Road has to be my favourite room; It's ample and sparse, but controlled. The drum sounds you get in there are just tremendous, and the selection of microphones to capture the sounds is unlike anything I've ever seen.

I recorded a similar type of groove ages ago in a massive theater with only one room mic above the kit. What came out in the wash was just incredible

One of my old churches had a great sounding main auditorium and we used it to record drums for a number of different projects.

My kit always sounded great in there.
