Chris, that's pretty good! I'm going to include it with some of my other examples. I'd like the burst to be less dramatic and the middle/natural section to be more prominent. The area where the natural starts to fade is a great example of the color I hope to have Pearl achieve. Thanks man!

So, when submitting the pdf order form for my MW, things got a little confusing. I want the studio shell, which is 4 outer plys of maple and 2 inner plys of gum wood. The artisan veneer has a maple carrier but the veneer does not count as a ply. So, my question is, is the maple carrier 2 ply and do I have this filled out correctly? If the predetermined recipes like "Studio" exist, then why do we still have to specify the number of plys? Maybe I'm getting an outdated order form but it would seem to me, that it would be much less confusing, if the customer could just indicate that they want an artisan finsihed, studio recipe kit. I apologize if this is already an option but this is what my form looks like. In the comments section of the order form, I specified Studio Recipe shell.

You shouldn't have to pick all of those specs, if you are choosing a pre-made recipe. Ask Al or Tom Storch how the form should be filled out.

But I gave it a go, it was a bit hard to find a nice shade of blue/green so let me know if I came close and I can modify it if you want. I tried to make the burst subtle so you can see more of the natural black limba veneer.
Like others have said, get an actual sample from the factory, this is just a indication.

Thanks so much Silver. I think the hue should be closer to turquoise/green than the solid blue I'm seeing on my screen. If possible, I'd also like the burst to be even more subdued and to start further up/down the shell, nearer to the edge. I appreciate the time you've taken to help me out and these examples are exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much, it's super helpful.

Excellent! The second (well 3rd including your original photoshop) looks the best so far. Is it possible to simulate high gloss lacquer? I really appreciate this. I also switched to die-cast hoops hahaha. Thank you again Silver this is an enormous help.

I played with the basic editing functions in my phones gallery and was able to produce this. I've noticed that without the dark black lines being present in the grain of the veneer, that black limba can kind of look a little like any other vertically grained veneer. The examples that I've seen and really liked have very defined dark vertical grain lines. They almost look like silloheuetes of trees being reflected in water in some of the drums I've seen, like this red fade.





Both examples show very defined dark vertical grain patterns.
