I would've preferred red, but when buying used we get what we get. This bike has a full service history, stupidly low miles for the year, and was owned by a retired Motorrad certified mechanic. There was no way I could pass it up for what I paid for it.

I knew Neil was an avid motorcyclist, but I had no idea he was a GS owner. That's a cool little connection.

I’m well aware of BMW motorcycle’s dependability and utility but I simply cannot abide by their aesthetics. Just not my cup o’ tea.

That being said, I’m a BMW automobile guy for life.

Oddly enough, I generally feel the same way about Harley's. I like a few of the bikes, but the lifestyle and culture surrounding most Harley riders and the amount of noise those things make are just not for me. I'm also in the south, so I'm certain all the negative aspects of HD culture are amplified simply by being in this geographical location. I would like to test ride a Harley one day, just to see what the rides like.

The GS looks definitely aren't for everyone, but they've got some cruiser/bagger style bikes that could probably win you over. The engineering on the bikes is every bit as spectacular as their cars. (and every bit as expensive....yikes)

I’m 100% with you on the “lifestyle” aspect of HD. It’s corporate horse****. I care not one whit for any of it. I don’t do “runs” or go to “shows” or any of the RWNJ events that seem to surround the “lifestyle”. I love precisely THREE models: the Softail Night Train, the Street Glide (which is what I ride) and the Road King. The rest? Meh.

I do like the looks of the Street Glide. I've heard it said before that Harley Davidson is a company that sells motorcycles to support it's t-shirt business.
