    Smile Pearl 75th Anniversary

I just realized Pearl has a big birthday coming up! Wikipedia says they were founded on April 2, 1946. That is 75 years as of 2021.

This better mean some special stuff coming next year =)

I’d love some limited edition snares. How about you guys?

75th anniversary kit in the style of the 50th anniversary snare: one-piece solid maple shells (with one-piece maple glue rings), gold tube lugs (full length on all drums, not STL style), single flange hoops on all drums (with FULLY FINISHED bass drum hoops). I'll take two, thank you please

PEARL CZX "CUSTOM Z" ALL MAPLE
    22", 22", 8", 10", 12", 13", 14", 16", 18"
    PICSPICS 2

How do those 50th snares sound? I’ve seen one but never heard one. They look great and the wood is awesome.

I've never hit one in anger. Closest I got was finger tapping - we had one in a drum shop I worked in, but because it had the original fiberskin type head on it, you couldn't hit it with a stick. But, I have a Custom Classic that has the same 7.5mm one-piece maple shell, but without the glue rings top and bottom, and different hardware. One of my favourite snares; sensitive and warm, but if you lay into it it has great volume and crack.

Like reinforcement rings (like in the MMX, MHX, etc) but they're really not reinforcing anything, since the shell is 7.5mm (which is same as Pearl's 6-ply shell thickness). Far as I can tell, the only thing they add is thickness to the bearing edge.

But Pearl called the glue rings, so I did too. I figure it's better than "wood rings" (I suppose you could call them re-rings, which some do)

I'm hoping for a retro style snare similar to what Tama did.

In fact, I have a 14"x5.5" Session Studio Select snare on it's way that will be receiving some minty looking coffin lugs along with brass tension rod receivers, an SR-150 strainer, Mastercast hoops, and possibly a vintage internal muffler!

I'm not waiting till January to find out if Pearl will release a vintage style D or M LX series of snares or drums.
