Great job, looks amazing. New lease of life for a lovely old kit. I much prefer the black sparkle to the burst finish.

    Thank you!

I recently finished everything up this weekend which includes installing all new heads and applying a ghost PDP logo to the front bass drum head. I had a friend of mine cut the new PDP concept logo out of the same vinyl. I put one on the black reso and have a smooth white reso coming in today for the other one.

You did a fantastic job. That wrap looks great. Was it expensive? I have a few old drums lying around that I have been tempted to refinish.

I'm not dissing your kit, and the make over is great - but I didn't think it was possible for DW to make lugs uglier than their regular turret lugs. I was wrong.

I’ve never understood the very existence of PDP or why they continue to be produced. DW is one of the preeminent drum manufacturers on the planet. They really need a facsimile brand? Who actually buys them? Serious question.

I assume it's because DW can't compete with the likes of Tama's Rockstar, Pearl's Export, etc etc, without lowering price: and they won't lower the price of the flagship DW drums because a) made in America and b) lowering the price of your brand makes it less of a luxury item and more of a daily driver. So I figure they created PDP that had lower manufacturing costs and less "prestigious" branding.

Low end drums pay the bills. PDP lets younger drummers or people on a smaller budget get a kit that is "similar" to DW's at a fraction of the cost. As we've seen here multiple times, some even claim that they are legit DW's. Image is a powerful thing.
