Greetings fellow PDF'ers! It's been a while. I'm still rocking my DW Performance series set and have recently acquired the old PDP Platinum shell pack that I used for 10+ years at my church. The shells are date stamped March 2005 which puts these drums at a little over 15yrs old. The drums are in decent shape with a few minor nicks and a surface crack in the finish on the bass drum shell. The bass drum hoops were also in pretty rough shape. The batter hoop was cracked and the previous owner did a horrible repair job and used a ton of resin to try and hold it together.
The original finish is Silver to Regal Blue Burst lacquer and they sound absolutely fantastic. The shell sizes are as follows,
8x10rt
9x12rt
12x14ft
14x16ft
18x22bd
Given their current condition, I wanted to try my hand and giving them a new start. I decided to try wrapping the drums with an automotive grade vinyl wrap. Long story short, I found a black galaxy sparkle vinyl made by 3M, placed the order, and 2 weeks later, here they are. It was a fun, but tedious process. I'm very pleased with the final product and am looking forward to taking these drums for a spin. But first, new skins....![]()
