    Default New masters studio

Hey all, just acquired a masters studio and was looking for some help identifying the colour and age of the kit.

That looks like sapphire fade. I toured and recorded an album with a sapphire BURST masters custom in the late 90s and that looks very similar to me.

I couldn't tell earlier when I was outside in the sun, that yours was a burst also. Cool!

No but I found it about 7 years ago on ebay. I know it was mine because I left the reso side kick hoop in the studio where I recorded the album and never got it back. I ordered a replacement which ended up being the wrong color but I didn't care. I told the seller it was my former kit and asked him to give me a few days to scrape together the dough to buy it but I was too late. It was 8x8 10x9 12x10 14x14 20x18, 5.5x14. My first truly pro grade kit, I'll never forget bringing it home.

Pearl has a few options, If you like the die cast then go for mastercast, if you want something a little different, look at the Superhoops or Fat Tone hoops.

Or a bit left field, but a set of wood hoops from someone like Gibraltar, Tama or Stellar are a nice option, and sound superb.
