    Default Which order

Iím thinking of upgrading my cymbals to a higher quality set. Which would be the best choice to change first (Hats, crash or ride) as Iím planning on spending a max of $500 for each piece

Hats would be the the first i'd change, but for that single $500 budget you could probably get a nice set of used Zildjian A's or Sabian AAX's and have some change spare. That'd be a much better spend of the money in my opinion. I've bought the vast majority of my cymbals used.

The classic Zildjian Avedis (A) setup would be:
    - 14" A New Beat Hi Hats
    - 16" A Medium Thin Crash
    - 20" A Medium ride (or a 20" A Ping ride, or 21" A Sweet ride)

    Or the sabian:
    - 14" AAX Stage Hats
    - 16" AAX Stage crash (or X-plosion, Studio, or other variant)
    - 20" AAX Stage ride (Or Raw bell dry ride, Studio ride etc.)

Either of those would be a much better spend than buying brand new cymbals.
Pearl, Natal, Ludwig, Tama, Slingerland, Premier, Arbiter Drums
    Zildjian, Sabian, Zyn Cymbals
PEARL, PREMIER, LUDWIG, TAMA, YAMAHA, NATAL and DW Snares

Roland, Dauz, FAT KAT and Koby Electronics, and loads of Percussion

5 Kits and 11 Snares, and I still don't have enough!

    Hihats-ride-crash-effects.

I second the used suggestion. Nearly every piece of my kit was purchased used, and I have quite literally saved thousands as a result.

Third on the used stuff, you can find anything if you wait long enough or look hard enough. Majority of my kit at the moment is used but you couldn't tell.

Keep used Paiste in mind also. There are great deals out there if you look.

I hadn't forgotten, I hoped others would chime in on Paiste, Meinl, Istanbul or any others. I'm not as familiar with their product lines or used prices so thought i'd leave it to those who know!

They look great. Sadly I don’t know much about
Zils. I believe that is a popular series. Seems like
a decent price for a pair of nice hats. Best of luck
    on your cymbal hunt.
