    Default Cymbal Bag Recommendation

Does anyone have a great cymbal bag recommendation?

Iím not looking to cut corners here. I donít want to say money is no object, but Iím also looking for what some say is very high quality.

Protection Racket is going to be one of your best options. All my bags and cases are from them and they're incredible. They will eventually wear out, but it takes a very long time to happen and they still function even with holes in the seams. My hardware bag in particular has had a three inch hole in it for at least two years, and it hasn't gotten any bigger and hasn't deteriorated anywhere else yet.

How’s the padding on the top? I find when a bag company says theirs fits a 22”, they seem to mean it barely does. The edges see to touch the top of the bag, maybe even stretching it.

I use pro rackets, if you're putting 22's in there, i'd advise getting one of the Deluxe 24" bags or the AAA vault, both accommodate 22" cymbals with room to spare.

Do you require a bag or a case? I have a Sabian hard case that does the job super well.

Definitely a bag and not a case.

You're taking a risk with Mono, some have said they make great cases, but i've heard a lot of quality control issues, and things like stitching and zips failing quickly under light use. A guitarist I know uses one of their top of the line cases for his Maton acoustic and has had 2 replaced under warranty so far. If they weren't free, he wouldn't buy another one.

I think you're best sticking to Protection Racket or Ahead Armor, i've owned cases from both and they've been great, though I prefer the Pro rackets overall. The zips are smoother, overall interior lining is better, and also the dividers are big and don't collapse when the bag is empty, which was a constant problem for me with the Ahead, the dividers are fleece, but thin and flimsy, to the point of having to remove the dividers to get your largest cymbal in first, before putting back in the bag and being able to put your other bits in. Just some food for thought. I owned both, and now I have a pair of pro racket Deluxe 22" bags, though I don't often use anything over 20" so works fine. And I have a AAA vault for storing my other cymbals that aren't gigged as much, as it can hold plenty in supreme comfort. I have gigged with it but it can be a bit bulky to get in and out of the car, and up and down stairs.

That case looks nice, but it's really expensive. I just got this for 1/5 the price, and I think it holds the cymbals really nicely.

I love having the extra front pouch for hi-hat and splash cymbals. I have 4 bags/cases... so I don't rely on this as my only bag... but I think it's worth the money.

Do any of the Pro Rackets have padded tops like the Mono bag seems to have?

I have a Road Runner, SKB, and a really old Paiste bag and they all don’t.

I guess so, not 100% sure what you mean but yes the top behind the zip is fleece padded.
