Default Trick to see Cymbal Stamps

I was trying to read my cymbal stamps the other day and was having trouble making out the characters. Had a magnifying glass, not much help. Then I thought of this trick. Get a piece of white chalk and rub the stamp with it. The chalk will bring out the indented characters of the stamp. After rubbing the chalk into the stamp take a dry cloth, napkin, etc and rub off the excess chalk. Do it over a trash can or drop cloth, not directly onto the floor or carpet --- it's for your own state of health from retribution from other family members!

Have you tried shining a light at a low angle across the cymbal?

Yes, I tried several sources of light and angles but did not help (forgot to mention that). The chalk trick really brought out a lot of details like on Zildjians, there could be some small dots in different areas...

A very useful tip indeed Drumrod.

Not much unlike dusting for fingerprints at the scene of a crime, which it would become if your significant other catches you dumping chalk dust upon the floor.
