    Default Classic Maple kit??

i got a nice deal on this Ludwig Classic Maple kit. can anyone identify the year of the kit?

i have never seen this type of tom mount and was thinking of changing the mounts to the rim style mounting but do i have to cover the holes from the old mounts or can i just leave them open?

The Modular hardware started in 1979. Those badges started in 1984. If the badge reads Chicago, its 1984/85. If it reads Monroe, post 1985 til early 90's. The serial numbers on these badges cannot be used to date them.

Is it Classic Maple all maple shell or the Classic, which is 6 ply maple/poplar?

I was going to say that simply based on the power tom.

The sad thing is that I have lived 40 min away from Monroe for 6 years now and I STILL havenít visited the Ludwig HQís.

after talking to a few Ludwig experts i have found out this is a 6 ply Maple/Poplar composite Ludwig Classic set made in the late 90s right before they started the Classic Maple series

the Monroe NC badge was used right before the change over
