The dual-glide strainer is great, and the drum sounds very nice. I was able to make it sound good at a medium-low tuning, but the drum really sings when I tune it higher (medium-high). Is that how it sounds for you?

For me this drum sounds good at all tuning ranges. That is why I like it so much. It just has that sound that sounds great behind the kit, in front of it and in recordings. I definitely have mine tuned medium-high most of the time and it is great there.
I have always wanted the Sonor Artist Bronze snare too. Do you have that one or have you played it?
I don’t have a Sonor bronze snare. DCP has one for sale... $3K... too rich for my blood. I have a bunch of bronze snare drums, including a Joyful Noise, and this 3mm cast bronze beauty.

My Custom Classic. Such a versatile drum, sensitive, warm, but also incredible bite and attack. Sorry for the crap pic - I don't have any particularly recent ones

So my Steve Gadd birch snare got this treatment last night, certainly a keeper, and my go to studio drum.

Sigh, if I must pick one, my Guru segmented padauk 7x14, on the right. This drum sounds so unique and musical. The Guru padauk stave on the left isn’t shabby either.
