Hi all,

New to the forum, thought I best show ya what I'm working with. Gretsch Catalina Birch 6-piece in Carribean Blue (it's green!). She spent far too long in the garage collecting dust. I pulled her out, gave her new heads (the old ones were the originals from the store - from 2004!), and found a cheeky spot at work to set her up (I work in a freight depot). I built a platform out of 4 pallets and some plywood sheets so I can move the whole rig out of the way with a forklift - I keep her on top of our smoko room! Thankfully my boss is also a musician so he is all for it.

I'm still working with my setup - I'm not particularly tall, so putting things where I can reach them is tricky business. I've left a space for the eventual arrival of a 16" floor, haven't found one yet. I've tried 3 up, but that put the toms too high, and the ride too far away. I've tried 2 up, 2 down, which worked, but left me no room for the phantom 16. I like the 2 racks where they are currently, but love my 8 too much, so this is the compromise I came up with. I also have to get creative with the mounting of things - I don't have a lot of hardware options.

As for the kick hole - craft knife. Needed to get a mic in!

I would suggest lowering and/or tilting your cymbals a bit to the lower the possibility of cracking them.

Strangely, I've never listened to Neil (whaaaaat?), I just have his cymbals and the high tom just makes sense there
