Cool First Post - New (To Me Anyways...) Masterworks Kit

Hi everyone. This is my first post here on the PDF. I've been a passive viewer on here for the last 10 years or so and finally got around to creating a profile. I've been playing drums since 2008. Started out an a second hand export kit, purchased a Masters MCX a couple years after that, and most recently picked up this Masterworks kit secondhand. I live in Canada, so there's not a whole lot of these floating around compared to the US. To find a Masterworks kit locally with the exact sizes I prefer and satin hardware was a once in a lifetime find, so I had to have it. Based on the labels, these were made in 2009 but hadn't been played by the previous owner in over 5 years. Not 100% sure of the shell composition (the previous owner wasn't either....), but I'm confident they're Reference spec based on the shell thicknesses, presence of inner mahogany plies on the FTs and BD, and the various bearing edge types. Forgot to write down the serial numbers, but I'll likely have to get Al to see if Pearl has a record of the order to get an official spec list and color name. Overall, these drums are in excellent shape for their age. The 10, 12, 14 FT, and snare were all in immaculate shape, whereas the 16 FT and BD had some clear coat scuffs. The BD also had some scratches on the lugs. I spent about 3 weeks picking away at these and completely stripped all drums down to the bare shells then cleaned, polished, and waxed all the lacquer, polished all the hardware, and wet sanded the clear coat scratches out of the 16 FT and BD. You wouldn't find a speck or scratch on these now. Everything came out beautiful; couldn't be happier with the results all things considered. Extremely happy with my purchase; the pics don't do the finish/hardware combo justice. And of course, they sound amazing . Anyways, sorry for the long winded intro, specs and pics are below. Cheers!

    WOW!!!

Welcome to the forum. Your kit is spectacular.

I can tell from the strainer on the snare that this was one of the last few Masterworks kits made. I am beyond jealous of your satin hardware collection as it is everything I've been looking for for the past 5-8 years.

Very nice kit! Not sure about the duct tape on your wood floors, but it's your home. Try taking some pics at night, or when it's NOT sunny out... so we can actually see the front of the kit

Haha. It's actually a cheap laminate flooring that was laid down over the old carpet. Looks like wood, but it isn't. It's being replaced at some point, so wasn't too worried about taping the floor up. I'll 100% be going with a proper drum rug though once that's done.

Few more pics. The way the light shines through the windows doesn't make for the best results, but hopefully these show off the finish a little better close up.

The satin finished hardware looks very unique with that finish.

Could you take a drum outside for a picture.
Drum pics outside really make the finish pop.
