    Default Tommy_D's Drums

I don't post here too much, but you all like drums, right? Well, I like drums so I thought it would be fun to post some photos of my drums. I have owned, and still own, lots of kits. This post is about my Reference Pure Music City Custom kit in white marine pearl finish. Sizes are 10x8, 12x9, 14x14, 16x16 and 22x18. The snare in the images is a Gretsch beaded brass. Cymbals are all Sabian. A mix of AA, AAX, HH, HHX and Artisans. Hardware is all Pearl:

I'll post more of my kits as time goes on, but for now, here's a really pretty kit of mine that I love the looks, sound and feel of.

Thanks. I was a bit skeptical of going with white marine pearl because most white drums don't really look good to me. Something about the lack of contrast between the chrome hardware and the white background. But I think the chunky tube lugs and the little brass inserts really makes the hardware pop on the white background. It also helps that the WMP wrap has a little something going on with it instead of a straight white lacquer.

Unfortunately, sometimes life comes before drums. I'm not happy I have to sell it, but that's what life has dealt me.

Its not falling, it's just so low that it has to be at such an angle to hit the bow of the cymbal.

Speaking of drums that are for sale, or in this case "were" for sale, here are some photos of my recently sold PDP Concept Maple in Transparent Cherry. Sizes are 12/14/20/14. Cymbals are a mix of Istanbul Mehmet and Sabian HHX's. Hardware is all Gibraltar.

I re-cut all the bearing edges on this kit, shellaced the interiors and mainly played it tuned up in jazz tunings with coated G1's. It sounded great! It's also saw life as a low volume practice kit:

It even was once fully converted to electric with a 2Box module:

In the end, I liked it best as a small jazz kit.
