Default Brass shell for Free Floater Snare

I have a 5x14 copper Free Floating snare that I want to turn into a 6.5x14 brass snare. The problem is I am having a hell of a time finding the 5x14 brass shell (FB50) that is designed for the Free Floating system. I am now wondering if any bare, non-drilled shell would work. I am looking at this shell but am worried that the bottom bearing edge and snare beds might pose an issue. Has anyone here ever tried installing a regular shell in a Free Floater? Or better yet, does anyone know where I can find the 5x14 brass shell made by Pearl?

Why not buy a used brass FF? Itíll probably be cheaper and youíll have 2 snares instead.

    Nevertheless, hereís a shell. https://drumsonsale.com/pearl-brass-...iABEgLchfD_BwE

The regular shell will work with the Free Floating chassis. The bearing edge doesn't make any difference. It just might look odd to have a beaded shell with the vertical tube lugs. Have you considered ordering the black brass 5x14 shell from Drum Factory Direct that doesn't have the bead?

Make sure you get the same size shell that you are replacing. The 14x6.5 shell will only work with the 14x8 Free Floating chassis.
