    Default DW Collector’s “quiet” kit

It’s been a while ! I had to go the Roland route for over the last decade. Found some cool ways to decrease the volume in our NYC apartment using Zildjian, mesh slip on heads, and Roland disks to lessen the vibrations.
This 18” exotic DW floor tom converted to a bass drum, 14” exotic tom, 12” hard satin tom, and ebony satin oil snare were cool finds over the past few months. RussB66

Honest- any complaints? I’m in the same dilemma.

No complaints yet. I had more complaints with
    My Roland kits.

I'm in the Black Ice club - I moved the center patch to the underside, it sounded like I was hitting on paper.

Agreed - I’ve heard this from a few drummers.

Also, I moved it off-center... I didn't wanna hit it at all.

Beautiful kit, love the finish. I looked into the BH’s, but went with the silent strokes. Now I’m considering the Black Holes. With the SS’s, my neighbours can’t hear a thing, and one of them, before they moved, was a Cop. MasterBlaster56, have you played them with the paper disc off? I think it makes them a tad louder than the Remo’s.

Thanks . I took the dots off and I the drums don’t sound louder to me. I’m actually having an issue with the 13” mesh head fitting over my 13” DW hoops. I’m going to try a
    Thinner hoop.

The more airholes blocked, the louder it will be... to a certain extent. Removing the dots will decrease the volume.

I’m going to have to seriously consider them. The remo’s really reduce volume, bu it’s such a chore to re n re and tune them for playing out occasionally.
