That's not the seller being sneaky, that's your state enrolling in the new sales tax program. The seller will likely not even see the tax money... eBay scoffs it up... and who knows what happens to it... it will likely be squandered by your state, if it ever gets that far.

I was not blaming seller at All I blamed my state for a 8% tax rate ridiculous to live here in NY State

Besides I’m not complaining at all about the Snare cost just the taxes.. I got $1247 snare that was brand new just displayed in store on shelf for only $850 unheard of even my Three Pearl endorsed friends couldn’t believe that!

    nice score.

AFAIC, my endless wait for one is still not over.

i'm looking for the 14X5.5 version to go along my wood ref. those 2 are the best snare drum ever made in their respective class.....

while i've never understand why the ''''brass''' version reached that sky high price.

i could get the stainless version for what, 500$ ,but of course it's not the one i want........lets say i left one past my noze for 350$,but left it go because it was the 14X6.5 version 5 years ago!!! i'm still kicking my own nuts for it lol. could have resold it for a great profit margin to fund the 14X5.5 i so want.

    Update to post from 08-29-19

Whew... Cant believe I been inactive since August of last year..

Well heres my review after spending some time getting use to this drum. I've had my Reference brass over a year this thing is absolutely a loud beast, I've had police presence visit my humble abode quite a few times one occasion they just let themselves in to see what all fuss was about an why people kept complaining LOL! Definitely blows a black beauty out of the water. I have it tuned medium to high and I put Heavyweight/300 Snare Side combo for heads and puresound custom 30 brass snare wires. If you are thinking about adding one of these snare to your collection DO IT whether you go with 14x5.5 or 14x6.5 it will serve you well. I have sold my Supraphonic LM402 and this is now my primary snare for all applications of home play and live gigs.

    Cheers fellas

Hey dude, no you have not. By my count you've had it for less than 8 months...

    Glad you like it though.

Regardless how exactly long I can't keep full track..

I took it in a recording studio that my buddy runs an we put it up against 3 other brass drums he had in studio in the same depths, tuning and head combo to see how Ref Brass would do against some of the best brass snares on market so a total of 4 high end brass snares

Each snare was tuned medium to high tension using Remo Coated Emperor on batter an Ambassador on snare side an the beat was a rock beat

    14x6.5 Pearl Reference Reference Brass
    14x6.5 Ludwig Black Beauty
    14x6.5 Gretsch USA Brass
    14x6.5 Ludwig Supraphonic COB

In my friends opinion the Reference Brass was #1 against the other 3 candidates. second place was very close to winning an was Gretsch usa brass,3rd Ludwig black beauty and 4th Ludwig supraphonic cob

    1. Reference brass
    2. Gretsch USA Brass
    3. Ludwig Black beauty
    4. Ludwig Supraphonic COB

I must say it Is the most loudest brass snare I have ever played or own.
