I predict music stores have maybe 5 years left, if that.
I worked at the GC on 17 for close to 2 years (the one that used to be Victor's House of Music). The management was absolute ****, and the staff was a mixed bag of competent musicians/salespeople and completely useless people. I ended up buying my old DW kit from Sam Ash (almost at cost) while working there because the store manager (dude also named Josh, lol) wouldn't let me make an employee purchase because I didn't sell enough extended warranties that month.

I avoid shopping at GC whenever possible. I'd say close to 99% of my purchases come from independent retailers on Reverb, or ordering online from Memphis Drum Shop or CME. Other than occasionally having some interesting used gear, GC rarely has anything I'm interested in buying, anyway.

That problem exists in every industry. People want the best products available, but don't want to pay for the time/labor that goes into it. The result is that high quality products become rare, and the bulk is just cheap filler that people accept as "good enough", even though they are meant to be disposable and bought repeatedly. It's frustrating at best, and straight up unsustainable at its worst.

Nope! He was either very forgettable, or didn't work there when I did. I worked there in 2009-2010.
