    Default mx masters?

Hi i just picked up what i believe to be early 80s mx maple set 26 inch bass 18 and 16 in flr toms and 14x14 and 15x15 inch toms .the badges have serial numbers and the maples shell badges are seperate..they have super hoops ...can any one help me identify these ? give me a aprox value and the wrap is pretty beat up thinking of stripping and staining them will this decrease the value ?

No, they are not MX Masters.
    Masters didn't exist then.
That badge is 80-83. To confirm exactly what series, you will need to give us shell thickness in mm, and a pic of a bearing edge would be good.

Are you saying there's superhoops because you can see superhoop stickers on the rims?

Superhoops were late 83, and it unusual to see them on these drums IIRC.
I'm thinking M covered series '83 (which doesn't make them MX).

There's often a reason why shells were wrapped, and that reason is: the shells weren't considered good enough for lacquer finish by Pearl at that time.

Were you happy with what you paid for them? What did they cost?

It's a 83 M series .. 8 ply - 6mm shells .. Superhoops came with the 83 models .. not all wrapped shells were covered to hide imperfections .. most of my 80's shells were wrapped before I refinished .. the wood grain under was flawless on 90% of them .. one time I bought a bass drum that came with original orange flash wrap .. underneath was factory walnut lacquer that looked amazing .. i assumed they had to fill an order and grabbed whatever off shelf, then wrapped it to match rest of kit being sent out

but for sh$ts and giggles he can post pic of bearing edge to confirm

Well, case closed with that picture. No further info needed - it's clear as mud.
