Damn well you’re selling me pretty hard on these. I guess it makes sense to find as set of drums that are from the era I grew up learning how to play drums in because those are the sizes I like and they don’t make those anymore and that’s why it’s so frustrating trying to find them new. I don’t need new drums at all. Pearl MLX/BLX, Tama Artstar II/Granstar II, etc.

They come up on eBay etc from time to time & for a good price for what they are. Mine were a custom order so had 13x11 & 14x12 mounted toms. I am like you, love the old 80's & 90's kits as they were "My era". My Yamaha Recording Custom's are in this configuration & will never part with those.

I’m pretty sure I’ve decided on pearl mct. I like warm full round drums but with modern attack and controlled overtones. DW performance was close but I don’t like the accentuated stick to head attack. Pearl mct has less attack and more of a round sound imo. I like Ludwig classic maples too because their bass drums sound so powerful but they are harder for me to find and their toms don’t sound as warm and full as pearl’s imo. Sonor force maples also have a great sound I like and they’re cheaper, so if I didn’t do pearl I’d probably go sonor or Ludwig.
