Default Sean Kinney of Alice in Chains

Saw Alice in Chains last night - first time. I've never been a massive AiC fan, more a casual listener. I was aware of Kinney but don't think I've ever watched any videos of him - I was always much more into Matt Cameron and Matt Chamberlain were doing. Well impressed with him last night - playing like an absolute powerhouse, but with great dynamics and feel. Also noticed he switched up his left hand grip quite a bit between traditional and matched grip, which isn't something you see too often.

I’ve always dug Sean’s feel but his timing live has always been somewhat...suspect.

Agree, but it’s been since 1994 or whenever it was Dirt came out that I’ve seen him play live.

Dirt is a fabulous album. Used to be able to play it on drums from front to back. Not so much anymore! .

I saw them on the Facelift tour as well and twice on the Dirt tour; arena, club, and festival respectively.

He's a solid drummer. I saw Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog in Hollywood at the RIP Magazine Anniversary party in 1991.

    Dirt came in 1992 :P
I love the groove on "Drones" from the last album. Sean is a really good drummer with a nice groove!
