It’s the sudden death really. I’ve had two friends in less than a year suddenly die. This last friend went in hospital less than 24 hours before he died thinking he had the flu. What he had was liver failure.

    Thanks.

That’s crazy. How old was he, Dale? I’m sorry for your loss.

Sorry to heat that Dale, that's a tough loss.

Here's a vid of Tomas Haake at a clinic years ago, just killing it. I know he's the grandfather of "djent" drumming and can play but he's got legit, serious chops. I was late on board the Messhuggah train so I'm not familiar with their early works but he is a real beast and that kit sounds glorious. Also, if you're into heavy stuff, you need to check out the latest Carbomb album... it is straight up insane.

Condolences to you, Dale. My partner had two unexpected deaths in their family in relatively quick succession in the past year. The second, one of their cousins, was pretty rough as he was fairly young and had a young family. He was struck by a truck on the highway. In that same time period, one of the guys who works for my firm was killed in a jobsite incident. He was very a great guy, so that hit me pretty hard.

Chronic illness is one thing, even accidents or violence, but the sudden onset of illness in a seemingly otherwise healthy young-ish individual is rattling. Sorry for those of you who have lost friends and loved ones to that scenario.

Life is a sexually transmitted disease for which there is no cure; no one's getting out of this alive.

    That’s an interesting analogy.

    "Why is that mirror sneezing?"

"Ah, look, it's just an old, creaky mirror, y'know, sometimes it sounds a little like it's sneezing, or coughing, or talking softly."

My cousin and her girlfriend have been at every home WS game. She’s a transplant from KC. She’s a Royals fan first and foremost, but she seems to root for whatever town she happens to live at that moment. When she was living in Denver, she did the same for the Rockies until she moved. She just loves baseball.

She’s even been known to root my Phillies in playoffs except for 1980.
