When I said "to lessen the sustain", I meant to minimize the sustain (on toms). My gut tells me most people aren't looking for the most resonance anywhere. Benny Greb has some pretty eccentric tunings (and sounds in general), like tuning the floor tom top so loose that there are visible creases in the head and even after that, loosening one lug completely. And throwing cotton balls inside said floor tom, burying cymbals in the ground and then blowtorching them (he has a sound/tuning tutorial on his DVD).

I don't actually properly "tune" my snare at all and I don't mean to have the bottom head loose or anything like that, I just meant it's interesting to "crank" or tune the reso head up to breaking point. Mine is tight, maybe just not SUPER tight. You say tomato, I say tomato.

Love that film, though IMO the best bit of it is when Nigel is asked the title of this solo piece, utterly genius.

That's some pretty deep stuff actually, if you really think about it.

But I think the real problem is that the Stonehenge monument was in danger of being crushed... by a dwarf.

Lick My Love Pump always gets me wet.

In my eyes. It's beautiful. I always start tearing up when I hear it. Seriously.

I'd like to fool around and play that Mach that makes me weep... but that made me realise the sadness of my habit of using my piano as a side table that has books, envelopes and dirty t-shirts on it. So it can't be played.
