Unlike Tim's experience with DC, he was nothing short of cool as hell when I met him.

And DT is just good people and a badass drummer.
What was weird about DC, is that the first two times I met him he was fine....amicable and talkative....the third time he was just, well, weird....and not in a ha ha kinda way...

That's awesome Thrush! I'm glad you got to meet a drum hero. I have to admit though, when I first looked at the picture I was like "You met a homeless dock worker... in an alley... OH WAIT IT'S MIKE!"

I've met a ton of famous drummers but sadly I have very few pictures. I did post this one back in 2017...

Mike Portnoy was in town playing with the Neal Morse Band, so since it wasn't far I nipped over, stood in the cold for a couple hours chatting to some other fans, and managed to grab a photo and a few words with him. He signed a drum head for me too. Really nice guy, pleased to finally meet him.
Mike is a cool one, everybody could have their 'no' days-

Is that in Islington? It looks like that - I've played there in December with The Flower Kings- amazing venue, great crowd, the concert went very well

That's right - Islington Assembly Halls. You'll have to let me know when you're in London playing, I'll try to come out and help out; I might not be a "pro tech" but I can lug cases from vans with the best of 'em!

Yes Sir- you will be very welcome! Most probably we'll have another tour in december 2019 and we'll go in London as well, not sure about the venue. Actually better have some beer

Now, I'm even better at lifting beer. I've mastered the "bar to mouth" lift perfectly

I met DC many many years ago at the Regatta Bar in Boston when he was playing with Mike Stern. He even let me take a little rip around his kit. Nice guy. Super mellow. Name: dc3.jpg

Not exactly met him, but when my son and I started drumming, my son wrote Nicko McBrain a letter telling him he was his favorite drummer and asking him for tips on how to practice. I did some sluthing and found his home address and sent the letter off thinking that would be the last we heard of it. 6 months later after he got back from his tour, Nicko hand wrote my son a 2 paragraph letter back that was very encouraging with some tips. We now have it framed (with a nice pic of Nicko on his old Premiers) and up on his bedroom wall. Class act all the way.
