Cool video and Gong Bass Drum. Is it just me or does Dennis seem to be saying to himself, "I wonder how many messed up things I can play before these guys make a mistake?" and all the while, he is chewing gum at the same time.

Yeaa, I supposed to see a reference lug type, But I'm confused about these lugs.

The mounts appear to be LB-200 floor tom leg brackets (which would function like a Tama-style tom mount), and I believe the lugs are from an ADAMS Concert bass drum. Maybe Al can verify?

yes.. these are pearls philharmonic series bass lugs which, apparently,, can splay out , lol . the hoops are i assume , 22inch pearl gong tom hoops meaning theyre only like an inch deep

oh yeah i see what you mean about the mounts , i think they might reference floor-tom leg mounts (just a guess)
pretty sure pearl will build him whatever he wants

I am sure somebody knows the answer to this . . .
Would you be able to cut the drum hoop off of a 22" head to pull on another 22" head and/or do you even need a hoop?
(After removing the rubber gasket in the claw,) I wonder if the BRL-300 lugs splay enough to pull on a 22" head on a Pearl gong bass drum.

Do you mean use one complete head, with a 2nd head with the collar removed? The collar of the hoop is really important, whether you use the Tama or Pearl design of gong bass drum.

I believe the lugs on the DC gong drum are BL100A (Philharmonic/Symphonic bass drum lugs).

KISS uses Gibson guitars and PEARL drums because they want the Best!

    on pork pie drums though...
on pork pie drums bill detmore(hope im not misspelling ) uses this little contraption on each lug , to convert a normal tom/bass lug into a timpani/gong style lug , which he simply , utilizes the heads ' hoop to attach to
so he doesnt use hoops on the toms ...aside from the flesh hoops of the head.

What sonically is distinctive about a true gong drum to simply single headed mounted kick?
