I'm usually not a fan of the gold hardware, but I think it looks nice with this particular finish.

Haha! I'll eventually post a gold hardware drum that you actually DON'T like.

I just don't care for the gold hardware because of all the chrome hardware that has to be set up with it.

If it was an orchestral (stand alone) snare, I would probably like it better as a feature.

I get that. With just the snare drum, you can appreciate the drum and not have to consider it in the context of the set.

Did you see in the thread on the Reference forum that Pearl only offers tom arms in chrome? I don't mind the hardware color of my snare drum not matching my set, but I really don't like the look of a chrome tom arm going into a black/gold/not chrome optimount. eww

    I agree.

I would imagine you can get most of the hardware in gold (like Sucherman) but then I think it becomes overwhelming with the cymbals being similar in color too.

I've never really liked Sucherman's custom kits with all of the gold and brown.

While I have never owned one, I do like gold (drum) hardware on sets, but all stands in gold is a little much sometimes. It would also be a NIGHTMARE to maintain.

Yes. Chrome is hard enough to keep clean.

Reminds me of one of Todd Sucherman's old MW kits, gorgeous snare.

Although I'm not totally sure when this drum was released, I have been able to trace it back to at least 1990. It was not available in the 1988 catalog, and I don't have a 1989 book. If someone has more info about this, please let me know. The only significant change that I can find since then is the switch from a rectangular badge to the current oval Piccolo badge in 1998 as well as the change of part number in 2002 when Pearl changed its naming convention. The black steel shell, RIM1308, CL05 lugs, and SR018 throw-off have remained unchanged.
