Love the finish on the vision kit.
Didn't you start and run another forum at one time?
TBH there isn't as much going on there as you think....the module is a Yamaha DTX-500 module that runs three pads - an XP70 single zone pad up front above my 8 and 10" toms, and two XP80 three zone pads to my right over my floors. Essentially that gives me seven different sounds I can have queued up at any given moment. When I was in a cover band I'd have different "kits" programmed for different songs. (ie I'd use two pads to replicate the reverse gated snare sound in Scorps Rock you Like a Hurricane)
The actual drums there are what I call "the ex-wife" (tuned hi and ******y)...the two 10x4" concert toms have Aquarian high frequency heads tuned pretty high and with slightly different tunings. The other snare is a Pearl 10x5 Firecracker snare, also tuned high. So just drums that give me a broader voice....
The 10x4 concert toms were originally supposed to be electronic....I used one of them for a LONG time with a Pearl TruTrac head. The problem with the TrueTrac is they feel worse than cheap rubber pads and it would mis-trigger *all* the time with the Yamaha module, no matter what I did. So I yanked the TT and put on regular heads. They actually have no bearing edges right now - which I'll be fixing some point by rounding them off with a hand sander...

Yeah that wrap on those VBA's is tight.
And yes - I ran one for several years.....shut it down after a few years....mostly because things were slow and I had other ways I wanted to spend my time. Plus the manufacturers don't want honest reviews of their equipment - the want "reviews" that read like ads. Since I didn't run ads and out of pocketed any site expenses, I reviewed gear in a very clinical way.
The final straw was Mapex (which is a longer tale than I want to tell here) redlining a review I did of their Meridian kits when they were introduced and telling me I couldn't say x, y, and z, or should just "gloss over it". I published it as written with no love lost...
I'd rather just play.... :-)

I would actually, Steve. Or is it Bob?
Way Too Much Crap
In 2003 finished hoops were available on mid level kits, 2019 they are not.
Crazy
I think it was a cost decision on Pearls part.....I don't mind the unfinished insides on the Session hoops....a lot of people have grumbled about it but IMO, given the color of the kit, the hoops as they sit give it a slightly elegant/vintage look. It never even came into consideration when I bought the drums...![]()
