I've said it elsewhere - I actually think the unfinished hoops give the kit (at least on mine) a certain elegance....personal preference I guess...honestly to disregard a kit that is sonically beyond any other kit in the price range because the unfinished interior of a bass drum hoop seems sort of , well, silly to me. But again, it's really about what someone prefers....I just prefer acoustics over a minor aesthetic that almost no one outside of the drum community would even notice....

you know why? because many people disagree with your take on it,actually,some like what you funnily call '''half finished hoops ''''.i personally think it gives some definition to the look of the bass drum.
not because you entertain some X taste regarding the finish of a hoop means everybody on the planet should think like you....

I'm not a fan of unfinished hoops either. Thats why I special ordered matching hoops for my Session Studio Select kit. I think the fully finished hoops made a world of difference. Love them!
