Question Pearl Dacade VS Session and Vision

    Hi drummers,

I've been watching some videos about the Pearl Decade Maple and I'm wondering if some of you that have actually played them could share your thoughts in comparison with other kits like Session and Vision.

I owned a Session SBX a while ago and now I'm playing a Vision. But to be honest, I still regret that I've sold my SBX and I'm not crazy about the Vision neither. So i'm taking a look at the Decade for the price but I'm a little concern about the sound, specially the toms. I've watched Dennis Chambers and Todd Sucherman playing but they don't play "enough" the toms to make my mind.

With all that said, please share your thoughts.

    Thanks a lot!

If you regret selling your Sessions, and want a nice kit, you should get a new Session kit. The new version has a birch/mahogany shell that seems to be getting nothing but rave reviews.

I agree with D4L. The Decades are below the Visions on the Pearl food chain. There have been a couple complaints about the shell’s seams. The Sessions are are very nice and in the US, they’re offering a free floor tom. The Sessions have quality hardware and finishes. The Decades are more of an entry level kit.

Here's a demo of the Decade Maple with a lot of toms in. Drumcenter CZ also have a video of the fusioon version IIRC too.

    I couldn't that's for sure....

I've not played a Decade kit so can't really say much.....but I do own a Session SRX kit, a Vision VBA, and now a Session Studio Select kit....the SS is going in my music/studio space and will not move from there......Vision's will go back to being my gigging kit (whenever that happens again) and the SRX's after 15 years of ownership are being retired and sold....I've had sound guys tell me how great the Vision kit sounds more than the older Sessions so that kinda sold it for me...I've heard and seen enough of the Session SS kits to know that they're what I wanted and barring a lottery win, will be the last kit I buy in this lifetime....

If it's about dollars... please do yourself a favour and wait, scrape together any extra cash you need, and get something other than a Decade e.g. a Session.
