Default Pearl Vision VBA - But not as we know it

    'sup

For a couple of months I've been thinking of getting a good electric kit so i can play at home without upsetting the neighbours. I have an Alesis DM10 kit, but i hardly use it anymore because... well, 10" snare, 8" pads and a kick tower just doesn't feel right. Especially the plastic/rubber cymbals feel off to me. I was looking at maybe an Alesis Strike Pro or even perhaps a Roland, but the price tags were a turn off for me. So that got me thinking 'can i get a more real feeling kit that doesn't cost me a lot of money?'.

After some research and checking options i decided so convert my Pearl Vision VBA to an electric hybrid type of kit. I already had Zildjian L80 cymbals and i wondered if i could convert those to electric cymbals as well (for a more real feel and sizes). I found a guy in the US that sells triggers for the L80's and i ordered those. Ordered some other stuff from Thomann.de (cables, mesh head etc.) to complete the set. I used this set in the practice space with my progressive rock/metal band, but swapping it with my Pearl Masters BCX kit. Anyway, to make a long story short; i spent this afternoon converting the kit.

I use my Alesis DM10 module as trigger input. On the drums I'm using DDrum triggers and on the cymbals Stealthdrum triggers. I use Remo Silent Stroke heads on the batters and cut up some old Pearl heads to (more or less) protect the bearing edges on the drums. The DM10 is hooked up on my computer which is running Superior Drummer 3; which sounds truly amazing and blows any electric kit away (i even daresay that it sounds better than the high-end Rolands). I'm using Cakewalk to record everything. Had some issues, but it's working now.

    So, here are the pics
