Default How Are "Drum Cover" Videos Made?

Looking for help making videos of myself playing to backing tracks. So far, all I've done is stick a camera in my practice space and record the audio in the room. But I want to start playing to backing tracks and mixing in the drum audio separately. How is this done? Are the hundreds of drum-cover videos on YouTube all coming from people who have expensive studio equipment, Pro Tools, etc?

For example, I wanna lay down drum tracks and video to something like this: https://youtu.be/YJJb8dW2Kxo

    Or this: https://youtu.be/peH4Vp5JAeI

    Any help would be appreciated!

In it's most simplest form, simply video yourself playing along to the track of choice (using an iPod, or other music-playing device, with headphones) and then using software like iMovie, mix the original audio track with that of your video. Even simple programs like iMovie or Windows Movie Maker (if they still do that, I don't know - I stopped using Windows after XP) will allow you to sync it up and adjust the volume of the mix so your drums can be heard over the music track.

Seriously. I think this YouTube Karaoke crap needs to END. Join a band, kick a** and film a show. With an audience.

And the first? Angel Dust for me. But KFAD is a close second.

FNM is one of my three 'holy trinity' bands - when I look back, I can trace all music I listen to back to three bands and FNM is one of them. Misfits and Stiff Little Fingers are the other two. Lucky to see FNM at Red Rocks a couple years ago - that was only the fourth time they've played in Denver.

Angel Dust is the first. It came out at a pivotal and sad time in my life. “Everything’s Ruined” was my theme song for a while.

I got into FNM a bit later - around the time KFAD was released actually. Really pleased I got to see them in Hyde Park, London, summer '14
