Looking for an acrylic drumset

So!

Liberty Drums gave me a price. £3,284 for:
12x10 Rack tom
14x12 Rack tom
16x16 Floor tom
18x16 Floor tom
24x16 Bass Drum
24x16 Bass Drum

All with black lugs, black diecast hoops and includes the heads (I didn't ask which heads). They did offer to not put any heads on them to bring the price down a bit.

What do you guys think? I think it's a pretty good price.
Let's see what Forecast can do.

Also, I just had a crazy idea...

I want to minimize setup time and make it as easy as possible to mike my drums, AND also guarantee I CAN mike them anywhere.
Would installing a MAY internal system be a good idea in acrylic drums?
I think it would look SICK, with the drumlite kit and the mikes inside.

It would work yes, even see if they can install them for you if you get them in advance. and drill the XLR ports.

From the videos I've seen, they mount on the existing vent holes, no?
As in, no need to drill extra holes for XLRs...

You can get them both ways as far as I know, but the drilled XLR's will be much sleeker. May be worth PM'ing RG1820X, I'm sure he has drilled internal mikes on one of his kits.

So, Liberty just got back to me.

They can do the drilled XLRs included in the shells, for £10 more per shell. Pretty great eh?

Forecast is taking their sweet time though.

So far, my experience has been that Forecast has more options, but I'm a big customer experience guy so from what I'm seeing so far, I'd go with LIberty if only just to reward them for such great customer care.

I still wanna see what the Forecast price tag will be though. Will keep you posted.

Update long time coming!!!

Forecast drums finally replied.

They gave me a £2,799 quote on the following kit:

Drums
12x10
14x12
16x16
18x16
24x16

Options
- Clear shells
- Satin frosting
- Black nickel hardware
- Cast lugs
- Triple flanged hoops <- I wanted die cast but they don't offer those in 18" sizes.
- HD legs and mounts
- Evans Drum Heads

Also Forecast seems to be the only one with THREE different finishes for frosting.
To quote:

We offer three kinds of frosting to consider if this is still the route you want to go! We offer a Gloss Frosting, which is the inside of the shell gets frosted with the outside being left smooth acrylic to create the frosted look but with a glossy exterior or Satin Frosting, this is frosting on the outside of the shell with the inside left glossy. The last is what we call Heavy frosting, this creates a slightly textured finish on the outside of the shell with a normal satin frosting on the inside of the shell to make sure the shells are almost opaque for the best glow under lights.

So which company you going to go for, and what final specs? (also if Forecast, which frosting?)

Well, since acrylic shells should be pretty consistent across the board as far as quality goes, and forecast is offering more options AND it's cheaper, they might be the ones! I'll keep this updated.
