They also left me with an issue with my 8" rack tom, as they put snare lugs on it without telling me, leaving it up to my dealer and I to fix that problem.
Ouch! For the amount of money you pay for masterworks drums, you'd think they'd be perfect right out the gate.

For some, they do come out perfect. That's one of the reasonings I used to keep placing Masterworks orders... "eventually, they will get it right... they have to get it right at some point..." but it didn't work out for me. The nicest quality Pearl drums I ever owned were the Masters Premium Maple (MRP), but even they had very minor imperfections that I [fortunately] didn't notice until I sold them.

What were they? Would most people even notice?

I didn't notice, but was really surprised when I found it. Another forum member pointed it out to me. My MRP drums were natural wood finish.

Several of the drums had random sparkles in the lacquer. The only explanation I could think of is they were using sprayers that previously had sparkle lacquers in them, and weren't thoroughly cleaned. Regardless, I never noticed it while I owned them, but it really irritated some other owners.

You're saying someone noticed a sparkle in that picture there?!

It kind of could read that way. But that's not what I took from it. I guess he meant in the flesh, so to speak.

No, another forum member told me about an issue they had with their Pearl drums, where sparkles were embedded in the lacquer finish (where they were not supposed to be - the drums were not sparkle finish drums).

The purpose of the photo was to remind readers of the drums I was referring to, so they see that sparkles have no business in the lacquer of these drums. Another member on the forum experienced this phenomena and told me about it. Then I started inspecting my MRPs and found several sparkles in many of the drums... weird.

I like sparkles. Maybe when they sprayed my MMP Diamond Burst they didnt clean the guns properly.

Exactly, but I thought they would have separate equipment for sparkle finishes, and separate equipment for non-sparkle finishes. I guess that makes too much sense. It's kinda like spraying fertilizer and weed killer out of the same rig... you can have two different sprayer set-ups.
