Not necessarily, it was a case of him sitting further away from the bass drum, and looking at the overall ergonomics to make the kit more comfortable, the older kits he was always practically sat on top of, where the later ones where just more thought out in terms of the orbital motion that Freddie taught. The Hi hat and upper toms are certainly a lot further out than previously, and though the floor toms are fairly close in, you can see from the heads that he's hitting them dead centre consistently so they mustn't be too cramped in.
Pearl, Natal, Ludwig, Tama, Slingerland, Premier Drums
    Zildjian, Sabian, Zyn Cymbals

4 Kits and 8 Snares, and I still don't have enough!

Good pic. Your band has a good look to them. Image is everything. We can pretend it isn't but the right look can open a lot of doors.

I remember when grunge was supposed to be the backlash against bands having a certain image.. The grunge guys were free to express themselves. … and every grunge band I saw live had the same outfits and did the same moves...…

    That was me from ‘92-‘95-ish.

Long hair, purple or black leggings under olive drab army shorts, PJ “Ten”/Pantera VDoP/LZ t’s and real jump boots or doc martens.

    Yep.

For me it was olive denim with white STP shirt.
Also had cut off( shorts to my knees / shants ) black jogging pants over long under wear and steel toe Caterpillar boots ( those were work boots anyway) Faith No More t-shirt, Red and black flannel with biker jacket on top. With my brown flowing locks I looked like a Eddie Veder clone.

Most of those cloths I already wore prior to the grunge movement because it gets cold here in the Midwest!
