    Default Snare stand suggestions

    Hello all,

I am in the market for a new snare stand because my DW 3000 does not sit low enough for my liking. I am currently using a Tama G maple SLP 13x7 snare and would like a stand that sits lower. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Choose whichever is your favourite stand based on it's features, then just remove the pipe-clamp casting, take off x-inches of tubing with a saw, replace the pipe-clamp and you have a lower snare stand.

Or, if you're like me and not the handiest guy around...

Several of the major manufacturers produce a low snare stand for deep snare drums:

    Tama HS80LOW Roadpro Snare Stand
    Pearl S930D Low Snare Stand
    DW 9399AL Airlift™ Tom/Snare Stand
Gibraltar 9706UA-TP Turning Point Ultra Adjust Snare Stand

This pipe-clamp casting may remove easily, but maybe not. You could try removing the pin (or hex set screw) at the bottom of the casting, and see if you can carefully tap off the casting using a dead blow hammer. Sometimes it's very easy, sometimes not. The other potential problem is, once you remove this clamp, reinstalling it SECURELY may be difficult since the casting was likely pressed on.

The other spot to check is where the main tube connects to the tripod base. If you can release the tube at this point, you may be able to reattach it here by tapping a new thread and adding a screw.

I've got the Pearl one because my 8x14 Classic Maple sits too high on normal stands, and it's a fantastic stand. Would 100% recommend.

Mapex Falcon Snare Stand is great, ball joint makes getting the snare angle a breeze. Check it out
