Yes, the "halo" finish on the new Studio Session Select is a Masterworks calibur lacquer on a reasonably priced, high-quality kit.

    Go for it!

That looks so NICE! Congratulations--great looking edges too. You gonna run factory heads or do you have other heads in mind?

Thanks! I like my drums to sing, so I’m thinking of putting ambassadors on top and bottom. I’ve never been a fan of pinstripes, they just make the drums sound dead to me.

If you went with clear G1 over clear G1, you'd be able to see the mahogany inside your shells better

Genera Resonant heads are even a little more clear, and can be used as batter and resonant heads. I'm actually running Genera Resonants on my timbale and concert toms.
Anyone who owns a 14x6.5 Reference Snare OR a 14x5.5/6.5 Masters Premium Snare AND is interested in trading their chrome hardware for black hardware, PM me!

I’ll definitely put clear heads on. I love looking at that dark mahogany inside. I tried Evans heads years ago and they just didn’t do much for me. I guess I’m a Remo guy.
