    What leads people to have problems with vents?

    Edit: Nevermind. It’s just a cosmetic issue.

    In this case it was cosmetic. Sometimes, the Pearl press-fit air vents come loose. I think they are aesthetically pleasing, but they can be trouble. I've actually received new Pearl drums with loose air vents; that can be very frustrating if you don't know to check for that.

    I like some of the newer makers who just make a simple, clean hole in the shell to serve as the air vent.

    Hay Dale. Who said enything about problem?!
    I needed to swap one with black finish to one with chrome. To fit all other hardware on the drum. Purely cosmetic issue

    Mapex uses a threaded air vent with nut. Very nice and clean to remove and install.
