I currently have my mimic pro setup so I can explore the various ways to get the performance to the DAW. I'm basically using all of the audio outs (including the DB25) and the MIDI. I set up the midi in my DAW so it records the midi notes as I play but also, so I can send the midi notes from the DAW to the module and switch kits/sounds post-recording.
The issue I am running into is that the midi notes seem to hit harder and have less dynamics than if I were to capture the audio straight from the first performance. I am not 100% sure if this can be helped or adjusted in the module.
My thought is to adjust the trigger velocity amps to see if that helps with the midi note dynamics. When I first received the module a few months back, I adjusted the velocity amps so I could practice quietly but still trigger harder hits. Even though the ghost notes sound OK when I play them through the module, the MIDI notes are too heavy. I also realize the mimic has a ton more velocity layers/samples than midi... So it will never be a 1-for-1 translation.
Overall, I'm loving all the I/O the mimic has to offer. It's really allowing me to explore the full extent of its possibilities.
If anyone has any ideas, thoughts or questions. Please ask.
