    WD40 and very fine steel wool.

    I used 0000 steel wool on the super hoops I cleaned up. works quite well for chrome, but it has to be 0000, 000 would likely scratch it.

    I'm actually thinking of swapping some satin HW onto it.

    Why wouldn't you just build your own if you're going to do that?

    As far as I know, yes. The new Modern Utility snares use 1.6mm hoops and are thinner shells -- 5.4mm I think.

    But the VP and this 2015 Ltd Ed snare have Super Hoops and 6 ply 7.5mm shells. Hopefully one of the more knowledgable guys can confirm.
