OOO . I like that! Thanks AL. I think that may be my next snare purchase. I want a pearl snare in my arsenal other than my like 10" M-80

is that the 8" deep with the bridge lugs? I really like double ended lugs on snares too.

the 14x5.5 and 14x6.5 have the bridge style lugs. the 14x8 have the double ended lugs.

Here's the Modern Utility 14x8 snare in maple finish with CL-100 lugs

That makes me just a little sad... single ended lugs make snares look like toms to me lol. Still a good looking snare though and I'm going to tell my wife I wouldn't be opposed to one of these for my birthday

    maybe even the 12x7... hmmm

Ill just tell her you guys are running a special that you buy the 14x8 and get the 12x7 for free! LOL $400 for a maple snare doesn't sound far fetched as far as she is concerned LOL

I bet you're right about the shell being the same. I'm sure they had to cut costs somewhere there though. Better lugs but wrapped instead of finished?
I'm not really sure what, if anything, they treat the shells with but it looked raw, as I recall.

I played a set of Decade Maple at our local GC and was blown away by how good they sound! I worked out a deal to trade my old Exports and $400.00 for them but then chickened out. If the guys I'm playing with now start playing out more I might do that, or pick up a Midtown, or a low priced E- Kit. The bottom line is they don't pay us enough to case and move the Masters around. The 2 case idea has major attraction but I've never heard a 16" bass drum.
