I had References before I bought my Masterworks. I went with Ref specs for my floor toms because I knew how awesome they sounded. Just wait until you find a 16" floor tom. You will be in heaven!

Yep I can relate to that too, and I hope it doesn't turn in 18 months like one did for me!

You can also be thankful that #302 is available for special order, unlike some other Ref finishes.

Best sounding 16" Floor Tom of all time in my opinion is the Ref/Ref Pure. I want an 18", I bet that thing sounds RIDICULOUS.

Had my 16" ref pure floor tom mic'd through a reasonably big indoor rig recently, and even without the monitors being on and with a o-ring on the tom the resonance just kept going. it literally didn't stop. sounded awesome (not practical for a gig though, so i had to damp it some more...)

Yes, the 16" Reference floor tom resonates forever -- in a nice way. I can hit it just with my knuckle and it rings for a very long time with no muffling.

I would love to hear that, to compare taste. I like my floor toms (noting that none are Reference) to have very little sustain. So this is interesting.
