    Well that explains why I could never figure out how he kept the hihat going. He was playing it with his left hand.

    I too am left handed and right footed, so I have been playing open handed for almost 50 years. My ride is about two inches above my hats, slightly to the right. I once tried setting up lefty, but I could not play the bass drums with my left foot. Peace and goodwill.
