Default FINALLY got to use my new kit and new cymbal setup last weekend

I've had this sitting around since January, but didn't have many gigs in the meantime and none that I needed to bring my own kit to, so was dying to give this an outing. Have also added a few cymbals to my setup, i think this is the most eclectic mix I've ever had. Absolutely love it! it sounds killer and is a joy to play, so happy

Very nice kit. I think the color is "plum maple" or something like that. I use to own a Yamaha MCA snare drum in that same color.

Most of the time when I gig, I opt for a similar drum size combination. For some reason, the 10" and 14" tom sizes just go well together.

Yes, I think it's plum lacquer! The photos don't really do it justice, beautiful finish. I agree, these sizes sound so great

Yamaha's "plum" finish was one of those colors that would change depending upon the lighting. My old snare could look purple, brown, grey or charcoal depending on lighting.

Yeah, I've found that - sometimes you can really get the 'plummy' purple, but sometimes you can't see it at all. I like it though, the grain is great, and I like brown/natural finishes anyway, so works for me
