Default 1030 series boom cymbal stands/arm change

Dang! Didn't realize that Pearl went back to the 1000 series-style boom arms. Wonder why they changed from the knurled-style boom arms/stands?

A welcome change for me. I prefer the non-knurled arms on the longer boom arms. The CH830S is fine with knurled arms.

    I now have both.
It seems the new CH1030B has the larger wing nut, like was found on the old 1000 series, with a smooth finish with a black plastic end cap.
The now discontinued CH1030 had a knurled boom for percussion mounting with the ability to 'hideaway' the boom down the main tube, so it can also be used as a straight stand. This feature was also found on the old CH2000 arms.
Oh well now I have 3 types of holders on my set up...

Yes, I noticed the subtle changes too (and the new 1030B part number). I prefer the knurled boom shaft (since it doesn't scratch or dent and other mounts can be attached to it).

I'm glad I upgraded all my Pearl Flat base stands with the 1030 booms before they were discontinued.

Well, this is welcome news to me. I very much prefer the look of the 1000 series boom arms , have them all over my set up & you just can't find them anymore if you want to add more. I am very glad the non-knurled look is back. Based on this thread, though, it seems there is a market for both.
