Thought I would share this creation with the group. I wanted something different on my frosted finished CB kit. Racked my brain a bit on how to get only certain logos, etc to light up verses the whole bass drum reso head. My first attempt was to cut shapes, logos, etc into a black reso head. The end result was fragile, didn't look that great, and sounded like [email protected] Itried to glue a backing to it, but it just looked cheap.
I needed some sort of a lens.
racked my little brain some more and came up with this - and love it.
I contacted vintage logos to see if they could reverse their classic shield logo - instead of sticking the logo to the head, the head would be completely covered by the decal with the logo cut out. They were willing to give it a shot. Here is the result. You could do this with any non transparent colored decal - I went with chrome as it matched the overall look of the kit with the lights off. The decal is applied to a smooth white head, the reliefs in the decal allowing the light through. The decal does not go all the way to the drum head hoop, allowing some light to shine through the edge and still illuminate the front mounting hoop.
While I like to be different, VL does now have the template to do this if anyone else likes the look.
I am really pleased.

I'm pretty sure I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to apply that decal. That must have been really hard, keeping everything straight. Kudos to whoever did the work.

How hard was that vinyl to apply and keep centered? I painted my own head with A similar concept and want to get it remade as a vinyl since that head has a tear in it now.
