This isn't exactly a NAMM item as it has been announced and made available, but the new Gretsch Renown RN2s are here!

I hope to see more finishes from Yamaha for all their lines of drums. They've had plenty of time since the move to China to develop more finishes.

Even if its bringing back some of their old ones like blue sparkle for LCs or MCAH, or deep blue for RCs. They need more choices to appeal to those of us that don't like green and orange.

I expect Pearl to "thin the heard". They have so many lines available at the moment, its a little overwhelming.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I predict that either the Session, Wood Fiberglass or the Crystal Beats will be discontinued.
They just launched a couple new series (Masters got renewed, Decade Maple) so it will probably be some new finishes across the different lines.
Maybe adding black, gold & nickel hardware to the Music City Customs line.

Hardware-wise: they just updated the Eliminator-line last year (or technically it was this year) so I don't see much changes coming there. Maybe something new with the ICON racks.
Would be nice if they updated the Maple 12x7 & 10x6 snaredrums with a new badge and some new lugs (hint Pearl: tubelugs!).

it's funny you say that because I've always thought it would be awesome to build a rack out of wood.

From your experience as a wood-worker, would that be a feasible thing?

with the right equipment and skills, anything is possible. It wouldn't be that difficult to build the parts for a rack like Pearl that is square, then just use their clamps and arms and all that. A skilled guy with patience could feasibly build the entire thing out of wood including the clamps, arms and everything but that's a project out of my grasp, at least for the moment. It would also end up being EXTREMELY heavy so it'd be more a show piece than a usable piece of gear.
